Seed Varieties
We are pleased to offer the following seed varieties for sale.

NEW Chigwell (6-row barley) Chigwell is a six-row, smooth awned, hulled feed barley. Chigwell is adapted across western Canada and will be a multi-purpose feed/forage variety with high grain and forage yields along with improved relative feed value. Chigwell will be the choice of barley producers who require a smooth awned, six-row barley for grain or silage with superior lodging resistance.

NEW for 2012 Austenson (2-row barley) This is a new two row semi- smooth awn feed barley variety, suitable for grain, greenfeed and silage. It features large plump kernels and heavy bushel weight and yields higher than Xena. Seed will be available in spring 2012.

NEW Stettler (HRSW) AC® Stettler is an awned, semi-dwarf CWRS variety with very high grain yield, high grain protein potential and strong straw. AC® Stettler is one day later maturing than AC Barrie and has very good sprouting resistance. AC® Stettler also provides resistance to stem rust, common bunt and loose smut. This variety is well adapted across the grain growing areas of western Saskatchewan and Alberta. AC® Stettler is an excellent replacement for Superb on the western Prairies due to its higher grain yield, higher protein and earlier maturity.

NEW for 2012 Carberry (HRSW) Outstanding new hard red spring wheat variety -- "carrying a good rating for fusarium head blight tolerance," coupled with high grain yield, high protein concentration, semi-dwarf stature with strong straw, and resistance to leaf rust, stem rust and common bunt. Seed will be available in spring 2012.

Superb (HRSW) Superb was a breakthrough performance benchmark for the CWRS class. Superb also provides excellent lodging resistance, good sprouting resistance and high test weight.

AC Strongfield (Durum) AC® Strongfield is a conventional height amber durum that is well adapted to the durum growing area of Western Canada. It has displayed very high grain yield with grain protein similar to AC Avonlea along with desirable improvements in gluten strength. Maturity of AC® Strongfield is similar to AC Morse and one day earlier than AC Avonlea, Kyle and AC Navigator. AC® Strongfield has better tan spot resistance than Kyle, AC Morse and AC Navigator. In addition, AC® Strongfield has higher grain pigment concentration than Kyle and AC Morse which is desirable in U.S. and European markets.

AC Sadash (SWSW) AC® Sadash is a high yielding and high quality awned, soft white spring wheat. It was selected for grain yield similar to AC Andrew but in addition, has lower protein than AC Andrew. AC® Sadash is a semi-dwarf with short, strong straw. It was especially selected for production under irrigation in southern Alberta and Saskatchewan to produce high quality, low protein wheat for the SWS milling market. The lower protein of AC® Sadash, along with its high grain yields, should make it very suitable for ethanol production.

CDC Sorrel (Flax) Higher grain yield and larger seed size than Bethune with good lodging resistance.
